Who Is Steve Albert Anyway?
Rev. Dr. Stephen Albert has been called a ‘visionary’ since the early 1970s and he loves to hear others tell him, “IT CAN’T BE DONE!” Before he had received his bachelor’s degree, Steve had created and co-taught a 3-semester, interdisciplinary, college course called ‘The New City’ at Drexel University in Philadelphia. This brought together students from almost every field of study, to design viable communities of the Future. He later taught that same course twice at St. Louis University. Dr. Steve taught college for 44 years even though his high school college counselor told him he was not college material. In 1976, not knowing it could not be done, Steve designed and chaired a 3-day Futures conference in Philadelphia called ‘2020 Visions of the Future’ which brought together 55 speakers to discuss the future of the world. In 2005, Steve helped found the Poway Interfaith Team in Poway CA. He served as President for 3, two-year terms. Steve created the first international holiday for the New Thought Faith by establishing the first Sunday in March every year as ‘New Thought Day.’ Rev. Steve brought together interfaith groups in the San Diego region which helped he and his wife Abigail put on the 2017 Connect symposium for the North American Interfaith Network. After receiving Steve’s proposal in late 2016, 14 Mayors in the San Diego Region and the San Diego County Supervisors proclaimed the second week in August as ‘Interfaith Awareness Week’. In 2018 he created the World Interfaith Network linking together all the interfaith and peace-oriented groups in California. In 2018, Interfaith Awareness Week became a CA State holiday and in 2019 it went Global. Steve is the author of 22 books including The Interfaith Manual, The Interfaith Workbook “REBOOT to INTERFAITH” and, “A Rainbow for the World”.
