Approximately 600 people were involved in and or attended the week-long program which was highlighted by 13 separate events in Poway, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Escondido, La Mesa, and many locations in San Diego.  From August 5-12, activities included: Youth Panels, Speakers from various faith groups, Marches, Documentary Movies, A Choir of Homeless People, A Prayer Vigil, An Interfaith Craft Booth, Social Action Panels, An Ice Cream Social and collections of food + for the needy.

Attendees learned to “Embrace our Diversity,” “Change our Community for the Better,” How to “Share the Light,” & “How to Find Common Ground with ALL People.”  There were visits to Churches, a Mosque, and Centers of different faiths and we were treated to foods everywhere.  The California Interfaith Association Mission Statement to: honor and respect all faiths, cultures, creeds, and seek to learn from those who believe equal spiritual opportunity and human rights belong to every person was experienced at every event.  During the week, the word “INTERFAITH” appeared all over California and interfaith groups from 7 other states joined in.  From Northern Shasta County to our southern border, 60 interfaith groups celebrated this week by bringing people together from various faiths including those who proclaim spirituality over religion.

I want to thank those of you who helped organize the activities. Your efforts to bring people together rather than to pull them apart, did not go unnoticed.  Our belief that everyone should be valued and treated equally with respect and dignity no matter what their background, skin color, sex, or faith orientation has been shouted by people throughout the State of CA.  You have displayed how to experience REAL LOVE and this great adventure may cause our efforts to be the example which could spread throughout America, and perhaps around the world.  We have united to show the world how people from all faiths can respect each other and work together for deeper Harmony and Peace.  The CIA website [www/cainterfaith.org] now links interfaith groups and affiliates around the country and interfaith groups in Canada have asked if they could join.

May we continue INTERFAITHING throughout the year and be back next year to celebrate the 3rd annual IAW all in good health, prosperity and abundance.   Blessings, Steve

Probably the most important thing which happened this past week is that we learned… WE ARE NOT ALONE!
