 INTERFAITH AWARENESS WEEK
Interfaith Comes Alive in California
August 5-12, 2018

Governor Jerry Brown and the California State Assembly has proclaimed the second week in August as Interfaith Awareness Week in California.  One Hundred members and affiliates of the California Interfaith Association will be celebrating throughout California during that week and you are invited to join them.

The Association’s Motto is: “We honor and respect all faiths, cultures, creeds, and races and seek to learn from those who believe equal spiritual opportunity and human rights belong to every person.”

What is Interfaith?  CIA Director Rev. Dr. Stephen Albert says, “First we have to mention what Interfaith is not. Interfaith is NOT a new religion; it is not a blended faith which calls for people to abandon their own religion and join something new.  Instead it is an umbrella for ALL faith groups, as well as for those who do not have a faith home, to come together and learn about each other.  Interfaith asks you to believe in your faith so strongly that you want to tell others how much it means to you.  At the same time it asks you to recognize that others may feel just as strongly about their faith and for you to listen to them and to accept their beliefs for them.” There are over 10,000 faiths world-wide; WE CAN GET ALONG!

You can learn more about the activities throughout California and in your specific area during that week by going to:  www.cainterfaith.org  .  Most activities are free and many include ethnic foods as well as presenters and cultural performances.  All ages are invited.
